Although the pimples are almost the same size, the Dornenglanz II is almost a completely new rubber. The pimples of the Dornenglanz II are slightly wider than those of the Dornenglanz and also have a cylindrical shape. The rubber compound is medium-hard and very elastic. The pimples are also slightly glossier than those of the Dornenglanz, but less sticky. Technically, the main difference between these two rubbers is the lower natural rubber content in the Dornenglanz II's rubber compound.
The Dornenglanz II is more versatile than the Dornenglanz. While the Dornenglanz may be more dangerous for blocking, the Dornenglanz II is better for most other shots. It's excellent for cutting and attacking, and even for blocking, it's not significantly worse than the Dornenglanz. It's quite easy to control, and all balls played with this rubber have a very flat trajectory.
The Dornenglanz II is also faster than most of our other long pimple rubbers. It's slightly faster than the Dornenglanz and slower than the Feuerstich, but much faster than all the other rubbers.
The Dornenglanz II is perfect for experienced players looking for a rubber that's faster, harder, and slightly more dangerous than the Agenda or Blitzschlag, without being less versatile. High-level players will primarily use the Dornenglanz II for cutting, as its higher speed minimizes opponent reaction time. Furthermore, the very flat trajectory of balls played with the Dornenglanz II makes sustained attacks against this rubber very difficult.
