The Sword Venom is a brand new long pimple rubber for the versatile defensive player with a focus on maximum disruption. The pimples are quite wide and also very grippy. The distance between the pimples is quite large and they are placed vertically instead of horizontally. This allows the Venom to generate an extremely high level of disruption, but is also aimed at more experienced players. The Venom is not suitable for players who prefer only passive blocking at the table. Active disruptive play and backspin defense close to the table are required, as well as a generally versatile playing style. The Venom is quite strong when it comes to backspin defense, especially in combination with slower frames. The blocking game is also surprisingly possible, because the combination of the softer and elastic rubber compound with the relatively wide pimples gives quite good control. The strengths of the Venom lie more in the active blocking game than in the passive. The 0.8mm version of the base layer is medium hard and of good quality, as is the overall quality of the finish on the Venom. The studs are also very robust.
